Investigations

We believe workplace investigations can be an essential tool to ensuring a respectful workplace. We recognize that if done improperly or unfairly, a workplace investigation can have significant consequences for both employees and organizations. We take a culturally competent and trauma informed approach to investigations. Our strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict allows us to conduct investigations in a fair, efficient, and cost-effective manner. We recognize the value a fair workplace investigation can bring to parties and work hard to deliver on that objective.

Mediations

Anita K. Atwal received her mediator training at the Harvard Negotiation Institute. She is a qualified mediator on Mediate B.C.’s Associate Civil Roster. Anita’s practical approach, along with her broad civil litigation experience and her ability to connect with people, is an asset to parties in mediations. She is a creative problem solver. Anita has experience advising both individuals and organization of all sizes, which allows her to understand different perspectives and facilitate a meaningful resolution on the parties’ own terms. She is patient, not afraid to roll up her sleeves and is singularly focused on helping parties achieve a resolution that is mindful of their objectives.

Ethics, Governance and Compliance Support

Through years of experience leading and advising public and private sector board, as well as advising the same, we provide assistance with all governance and compliance related matters, including:

  • Internal policies and procedures;

  • Risk management and compliance, including conflicts of interest;

  • Identifying, managing, and investigating policy breaches;

  • Drafting, implementing, and/or enforcing Codes of Conduct; and,

  • Integrity commissioner services.

 
 

Workplace Equity & Inclusion

We help organizations develop, administer, and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion (“DEI”) policies and programs. We also provide training on equity and inclusion, unconscious bias, and microaggressions in the workplace. We ensure that our clients meet their legal obligations and implement programs and policies in a way that is inclusive and does not alienate their workforce and members.   

Simply put, we approach DEI issues in a way that is inclusive, practical, and transformative.
